 Strong ability to read & understand contract drawings and help construction contractors with questions they have in the field, also help the contractor come up with solutions to allow construction to progress while still complying with engineering standards.  Experience in construction and construction engineering is required.  Experience in the following areas: piping construction including hydrotest activities, structural steel construction, civil/foundation construction etc. Problem solving and liaising with the contractors are essential.  Experience in commissioning activities is essential. Activities include system walkdowns, punch item review and closing, QVD item close outs, Change notice (CN) development etc.  Be able to identify and raise relevant construction contract changes, consolidate and draft a scope of work for Contracts to issue to the Contractor.  Rectify and manage warehouse and site material issues, source alternative materials when intended materials are not available. Liaise with Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, Material Management, Work Face Planning, Supply Chain Management to develop alternative solutions  Understand the short term 3 week look ahead and overall construction schedule. Identify the key construction activities and monitor progress against the schedule.  Manage the contractor’s day to day activities, contractor interface issues, simultaneous activities, identify and manage potential delays.  Is conscious of cost and helps identify, raise & implement tactical, execution type cost savings opportunities.  Interfaces with Engineering and Base Business to align on and approve method statements, job packs, obtain permits to work, etc.  Attends contractor weekly construction meetings and actively participates giving updates on key issues impacting progress.  Works with Quality, RA, HES and other groups to resolve immediate, tactical issues that are impacting construction.  Liaise with the Field Engineering Team to ensure technical queries are being answered in a timely manner; whilst ensuring the engineers understand what the issue is.  Perform site walkdowns, identify any issues and help evaluate alternatives and solutions.  Work with the construction contractors to get redline drawings in time for the Field Engineering Team to review well before scheduled mechanical completion walkdowns.  Regular visits to the work site to talk with the construction contractor, understand tactical, day in / day out issues and implement solutions.  Have discussions on Incident and Injury Free with the crews, complete site reviews of the contractor’s job site processes and safeguards to ensure they comply with TCO safe work practices. Will report to the Gathering Conversion Construction Superintendent.
Academic Requirements:  Higher level education from a University or Technical institute is highly desired in engineering or industrial sciences.  Basic computer skills Microsoft Excel, Word, E-Mail, desired skills in MS Projects.  High regard to SAFETY is a requirement. Willing to participate and promote SAFE OPERATIONS at all times. Experience:  Must have a minimum of 5 years work experience in construction. Experience may be in construction, construction management, quality control, or commissioning.  Working knowledge of industry codes governing work in assigned discipline. Familiar with industry codes governing work in other disciplines.  Supervising numerous small to medium sized projects is typical. Because of the complexity of the Tengiz facilities, a background of both upstream and downstream experience is desirable, but not a must. Experience with sour gas or processing facilities is also desirable.  Must have demonstrated leadership abilities.  Must have an understanding of project scheduling, cost tracking and contractor evaluations.
